Just over eight years ago I launched Combustus on-line arts and literary magazine. My dream: to create a unique vehicle for artists and visionaries from all genres and all over the globe to inspire and learn from one another. Since then, one of my favorite comments I continue to receive from my readers is that through these dialogs with artists sharing their passions, new worlds have opened up. Poetry, abstract art, dance, jazz, etc…has found a new fan.

Just as satisfying for me is knowing that, bit by bit, borders are being crossed, walls between diverse peoples slowly broken down and stereotypes gently dispelled as men and women share with us not only their artistry but their humanity. The power of art in community.

I encourage you to actively engage with this magazine. Maybe for you that means leaving a comment after an article or sharing with your friends a piece you enjoyed. You might support the artists profiled here and this magazine by purchasing an author’s book, artist’s painting, musician’s CD, Combustus t-shirt, or making a personal donation. Let us know art is important,

This seems the perfect time and place then to give special thanks to those who donated to Combustus magazine our very first year out: poet and editor Carolyn A. Martin; photographer Andy Schmitt; and poet Salvatore Ala.

Thank you as well to New York metal designer, Tod Pardon, and Texas musician, Kevin Winter, and Bill Ursel, the first to purchase the vibrant new Combustus hoodie and t-shirts designed especially for us by artist, Keemo.

And a special, special thank you to each of you who has come forward over the past few weeks and months, letting me know, through private donations, that you are not yet ready for Combustus to end. How frequently I will be able to continue to publish the online arts magazine, I still do not know, but to throw in the towel now would feel like a betrayal to all of you. So in gratitude, I say, Thank you! And may this coming year bless all of you lovely friends with what feeds and warms you most. Peace.

One Response to “Welcome

  • On Golden Waves

    On golden waves
    I've seen you flow
    One light so clear
    & all aglow
    A spirit filled
    with pure sweet Love
    An angel see
    yourself above
    Just breathe &
    close your eyes to see
    In gratitude
    we are set free
    On golden waves
    we gently flow
    Our light so clear
    & all aglow!!!
